WNCC baseball ho-hit at Lamar


                LAMAR, Colo. – Lamar Community College’s David Leblanc tossed a no-hitter against the Western Nebraska Community College baseball team as the Runnin’ Lopes shut out the Cougars 10-0 in an Empire Conference contest Saturday in Lamar, Colo.
                In the opener, Leblanc faced just 23 batters, striking out six and allowing three base runners in picking up the win.
                The Lopes struck first, scoring twice in the second and once in the third before opening the contest with six runs in the fourth inning. Lamar pounded out 12 hits in the contest, including four doubles.
                Jeff Schmitt took the loss on the mound for the Cougars, allowing nine runs on nine hits and walking just one in four innings of work. Trevor Kriesel finished off the game by pitching one inning and giving up a run on two hits.
                WNCC will play Otero Junior College Sunday in a conference doubleheader.
