Three WNCC basketball players make All-Region IX teams

               The Western Nebraska Community College and Eastern Wyoming College basketball teams had players named to the Region IX al-Region IX and all-tournament teams this week.

               On the women's side. WNCC"s Shelby Campbell, Hemingford graduate, and Carolina Alves each earned all-Region honors. The two also garnered all-tournament honors in helping the Cougars to the semifinals at the Region IX tournament.

               Eastern Wyoming's Krystal Pittman also earned an honor, as the sophomore was named to the all-region team.

Carolina Alves

               The women's all-tournament complete list included Jessa Jeppesen of Western Wyoming, Ieva Jansone of Miles; Maty Diallo and Hannah Pollart of Northeastern Colorado; Courtney Paterson of Central Wyoming; Carolyn Taite of Northeast Nebraska; Carolyn Alves and Shelby Campbell of WNCC; Alayna White of McCook; Fallon Lewis of Sheridan; CHelsea Rotondo, Tracy Fosterling and Aubry Boehme of Otero; and Rosalie Cutri, Lindsey Fearing and Sherece Huddlin of Casper.

Hauns Brereton

               All-Region members include Jeppersen of Western Wyoming; Fearing and Cutri of Casper; Jansone of Miles; Boehme and Fosterling of Otero; Diallo of Northeastern Colorado; Eica Long of Northeast Nebraska; DaVina Jefferson of McCook; Megan Smith of Northwest Wyoming; Pittman of EWC; Campbell and Alves of WNCC; Katie Strandholm of Gillette; and Dawne Degel of Sheridan.

               The women's coach of the year went to Otero's Taylor Wagner, while the Sheila Worley Sportsmanship award went to McCook.

               WNCC's Hauns Brereton, who averaged 20 points a game this season in helping the Cougar me to the quarterfinals of the regional tournament, earned all-tournament as well as all-region honors.

               The men's all-tournament list includes Cody Pinder of Northeast Nebraska; Trevin Harris and Rodrigo de Souza of Western Wyoming; Omar McDade and Jarrell Crayton of Sheridan; Widgett Washington of Northeastern Colorado; Terrance Dent of Laramie County; Darius Robinson of McCook; Brandan Walton of Casper; Bojan Mihajhovic of Central Wyoming; and Hauns Brereton of Western Nebraska.

               The 12-man men's all-region team includes Tyree Anderson of Miles; Omar McDade from Sheridan; William Walker from Northwest Wyoming; Darius Robinson of McCook; Tony Pinder of Northeast; Hauns Brereton of WNCC; Brandon Walton of Casper; Ryan Aaron of Gillette; Tyler Condie of Western Wyoming; Arden Dennis of Lamar; ROdrigo Silva of Laramie County; and Widgett Washington of Northeastern Colorado.

               Sub-region coach of the years went to Adam Schwartz of Lamar in the south, Trace Bevell of Western Wyoming in the central, Dan Anderson of Northeast Nebraska in the east, and Steve Smiley of Sheridan in the north.
