WNCC drops two softball games at Midland Tourney

 MIDLAND, Texas – The Western Nebraska Community College softball team had a rough go in the second day of the Midland Tournament Saturday in Midland, Texas.
                The Cougars dropped a 7-2 contest to West Texas College before falling to Blinn College 14-2.
                WNCC managed just 11 hits in the two contests. In the opener against West Texas, WNCC had six hits compared to 14 for West Texas. Aria Agle paced the team with a 3-for-3 game with two RBIs. WNCC also received a 2-for-4 performance from Jordan Schoepflin, while the other hit came from Bree Bitton.
                Amanda Jones took the loss in the circle, striking out two, walking one and allowing 14 hits.
                WNCC was never in the contest in the tourney final, falling to Blinn 14-2. Blinn scored five times in the first, twice in the second and four more times in the fourth for a quick 11-0 lead.
                Jocelyn Stubbs led the Cougar Offensive attack with a 2-for-2 performance. Allie Alverson recorded the only extra base hit on the day with a 2-run scoring double.
                Ashton Hughes suffered her first loss on the year, going just four inning and allowing 13 hits and 14 runs. Hughes struck out one and walked three.
                WNCC will be back in action next weekend when they make a 3-day trip to Kansas to face Barton Community College, Sterling J.V. and Friends J.V.
