WNCC baseball falls twice to Colby

The Western Nebraska Community College baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Colby Community College Tuesday on the road.

The Cougar men fell 2-1 and then 6-5 to the Trojans. In the first game, the Cougars Jacob Stutzman took the loss by walking four and striking out one. He also allowed eight hits in six innings of work.

Offensively, the Cougars managed just four hits. Jason Sloan scored the Cougars only run off a hit by Oscar Rodriquez.

In the second game, WNCC led 2-1 after one inning before allowing Colby plate five runs in teh third inning. WNCC tried to come back as they sliced the lead to 6-4 with two runs in the fourth and then 6-5 with a run n the sixth, but it was too late.

Sidney Jones took the loss on the mound as he went two innings, walking five, striking out two and allowing four runs. David Castle finished off the game going four innings, striking out three.

WNCC outhit the Trojans 4-2. Josh Parker went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Shane Wade had the only extra base hit for the Cougars.

WNCC will next be in action Wednesday when they travel to McCook for one 9-inning Empire Conference contest.
