Cougars in title game of Salt Lake Tourney

For the second year in a row, the Cougars earned a berth in the title game of the Salt Lake Invite after play on Saturday.

The Cougars earned the berth after knocking off North Idaho College in three straight games 30-24, 30-25, 30-17. The win avenged Saturday morning's loss to NIC when the Cougars won the first game 30-18 and then fell 30-16, 15-13 for the team's first loss of the year.

In the win, assistant coach Amy Winters said it was a team effort and they played well. Jenny Eichler led the team wiht 16 kills followed by Leticia Kuhn with 15 and Soriano with 10 kills. Bianca Rivera led with 12 digs followed by Leticha with 10 and Kendra Schauermann with 9. Stacie Meisner led with 12 points, while Shawntell Jones had seven blocks followed by Hailey Mueller with six.

The Cougars play in the championship match at 5 p.m. against a yet to be determined opponent.
