Cougar men's, women's soccer downs Western Wyoming


WNCC's Bre Perkes scored four goals and assisted another as the women's soccer team collected their first win of the season with a 11-0 win over Western Wyoming Community College. The team als received two goals and two assists from Amanda Arrant, two goals and an assist from Paige Achatz, a goal and assist from Kiwi Wingert and Nancy Boyack, a goal from Nickole Mueller and an assist from Stacy Agnew.

The Cougar women led 6-0 at halftime and never looked back as Paige Achatz scored the opening goal just two minutes into the match. Minutes later, Bre Perkes registered the first of her four goals on a penalty kick at the seven minute mark, followed by Kiwi Wingert netting a goal with nine minutes gone in the game.

The Cougar men also played well in their 3-0 win against Western Wyoming. For the men, Eloy Matos broke loose and scored two goals to show his quick-strike, strong leg. Eloy scored on a rifle shot 11 minutes into the game. Five minutes later, Daniel Ocampo netted a goal to give WNCC a 2-0 halftime lead.

The second half was a defensive struggle until Eloy took a pass from Francisco Granzanti and registered his second goal at the 35 minute mark for the 3-0 win.

The Cougar men will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to Laramie County Community College. Then, both teams will be in Great Bend, Kan., for matches against Barton County and Northern Oklahoma this weekend.
