The Cougars scored six times in the sixth inning to register a 7-4 win in the opener before falling 8-2 in game two.
In the first game, the Cougars trailed 3-1 heading through five innings. WNCC received a big lift from freshman Ashton Hughes, who delivered a 3-run home run that scored Jackie Cappuccilli and Stephanie Townsend to give the Cougars a 7-3 lead.
WNCC pounded out 10 hits in the game, including four extra base hits. Megan Burditt led the team with a 2-for-3 game, including a triple and a run scored. Adena Hagen went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Katie Groves finished the game with two runs scored on one hit, while Townsend went 1-for-4 with a double, RBI and a run.
Hughes went 1-for-3 in teh game with a home run and three home runs.
Taylor Anderson picked up her fifth win of the season. Anderson scattered nine hits, while striking out five.
The second game didn't go the Cougars' way. WNCC jumped on top 1-0 after one inning before falling behind the 8-ball as the Broncobusters went up 8-1 after four innings.
WNCC managed just five hits in the contest, while giving up 11 hits to Garden City.
Brittany Enterline took the loss in the circle, going four innings, while giving up eight runs, walking four and striking out three.
Hagen and Allie Alverson each went 2-for-3 in the game. Hagen had a double with a RBI, while Alverson had a double and run scored. Brittany Chacon had the other hit, a double, for the Cougars.
WNCC, 11-2, will next be in action this weekend when they travel to face the University of Colorado Club team on Friday at Longmont, Colo.
