The Cougars, who fell to Glendale Friday in pool play 13-0, played much better the second time around. WNCC opened the game with three runs in the first inning. Amanda Saldivar started things with a single followed by Jordan Schoepflin and Katie Groves drawing walks. Jacqui Cappucilli scored all three with a single.
Glendale came back slicing the lead to one 3-2 after the first inning and then plated seven in teh second inning to go up 9-3. WNCC tried to come back, cutting the lead to 9-6 after four innings, but that was as close as they got.
Brittany Enterline took the loss in the circle. Enterline went 1 2/3 innings striking out two, allowing four hits and five runs. Taylor Anderson finished the game going 4 1/3 innings, walking four, striking out three and allowing eight hits.
WNCC, who has last three straight, managed eight hits compared to Glendale's 12 hits. Saldivar pace the team with 3-for-4 game with a run scored. Groves finished the contest going 2-for-3 with a double, three runs, and an RBI.
WNCC, 14-11, will return home for a 3-day weekend home stand. Friday, the Cougars will entertain Lamar Community College in a conference doubleheader before hosting Garden City Community College in Scleroderma Day. WNCC will host McCook Community College on Sunday in a conference doubleheader.
