The WNCC men's basketball team doesn't miss a step in practices as they run through some plays outside while the fire alarms go off at the college Wednesday afternoon about 1:15 p.m. Practices were restored shortly later and then the men's ans women's boarded the bus at 2:45 p.m. for Colby.
The Western Nebraska Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams will venture on the road this weekend with games at the Ambassador Classic in Colby, Kan.
The Cougar men, fresh off of two wins last weekend in the Cougar Classic, will see some tough competition in the next three days. The Cougars open against Colby Community College at 7:30 (MST) on Thursday, followed by contests with Ft. Scott Community College at 1:30 p.m. Friday and then Neosha County Community College at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The women, on the other hand, will be looking to snap a 2-game losing skid at the same tournament. The Cougar women, 1-2, will begin things Thursday morning against Pratt Community College at 9:30 a.m. Pratt features plenty of local flair as Gering graduate Brooke Schwartz is the head coach, while Sydney Moore, a 2007 Chadron High School graduate, is a freshman on the team.
After Thursday’s contest, the Cougars will face Colby Community College at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, followed by a contest against Dodge City Community College Saturday afternoon.
Both teams will remain on the road the following weekend with contests at the Air Force Prep tournament Nov. 16-18 before returning home for the Thanksgiving Classic.
