The Western Nebraska Community College volleyball team run at an undefeated season came to a screeching halt in the second day of the Raider Invite in Columbus, Neb.
After winning all three of their matches on Friday, the Cougar women went 1-2 on Saturday, falling twice to Iowa Western Community College. The second loss to IWCC ended the opportunity for the Cougar women to win their third straight tournament this season.
In a pool play match early Saturday morning, the Cougars suffered a straight set loss to the Reivers25-17, 25-19. That put the Cougars into a bracket play match up with Southeast Nebraska and the WNCC squad easily defeated the Storm 25-12, 25-13.
That sent the Cougars into a rematch with Iowa Western. The Cougars opened the match by winning the first set 25-15. WNCC, however, couldn't keep the momentum going as the Reivers won the next two sets 25-17, 15-12.
WNCC, 20-2, will return home for its home debut on Tuesday when they face Eastern Wyoming College at 7 p.m. Before the match, however, there will be a high school volleyball match taking place as the Leyton and Lingle-Ft. Laramie teams will battle around 5:30 p.m.
