WNCC men fall to Sheridan College

[12/1/2012] SHERIDAN, Wyo. — The Western Nebraska Community College men’s basketball team dropped an 84-69 setback to Sheridan College on Saturday at the Holiday Classic in Sheridan, Wyo.
               Willie Mangum paced the Cougars offensively with 24 points. Charles Ward added 19 points. Both Mangum and Ward hit a pair of 3-pointers.
               Cody Johnson finished with eight points, while Tahir Little and Rich Williams each added seven.
               Johnson led WNCC on the glass with 13 rebounds. Youssoupha Kane blocked four shots and Little dished out three assists.
               WNCC shot 30 percent from the field and 70 percent at the free-throw line (21 of 30).
               Three Generals scored in double figures to pace Sheridan. Ron Mvouika led the way with 21 points. Iakeem Alston had 18 and Victor Bermudez added 15. Mvouika finished with a double-double as he also led the Generals on the glass with 11 rebounds.
               Sheridan shot 33 percent from the field and 60 percent from the free-throw line (14 of 23).
               WNCC returns to action on Friday when they host Northwest Kansas Technical College at 7 p.m. After that, the Cougars will hit the road to play in the Northwest Wyoming Classic on Dec. 14 and 15 before breaking for Christmas.
