WNCC athletic awards banquet set for May 7, tickets are $8

Western Nebraska Community College athletic department will host the fourth annual Cougar Athletic banquet on Wednesday, May 7 at Cougar Palace beginning at 5:15 p.m.

This year’s banquet theme is “Celebrating Excellence” and will feature community resident Jackie Cervantes-Guzman, who is also a dorm parent for Cougar athletics.

The awards banquet will also feature the Patron of the Year winners, as well as individual team Most Valuable Player and Cougar Pride (Sportsmanship) recipients. Also, the Male and Female Athlete of the Year will be announced along with the Cougar Award winner. There will also be other presentations during the evening ceremonies.

Tickets to the awards banquet, including a meal, costs $8 and can be purchased by calling Athletic Director Jennifer Pedersen at 308-635-6798 or Mary Wuest at 308-635-6151. This year’s meal will be a barbecue-style buffet.
