Soccer about to begin

I can't wait until soccer begins. Yes, I am not big into soccer (I still cannot figure out the offsides rule) but I am slowly learning. This year, the Cougar soccer team will also field a women's team after having to suspend the program for one year.

What this blog is about is just how good will the men's and women's teams be? I have a sneaking suspicion that they will be better than people think. Yes, the men have some talent returning and coming in. The women, will develop into a quality program by the end of the year.

So, now, the question I need to ask you, how do you think the soccer teams will do? Are you ready for some fine soccer. Just to let you know, most of the players are already here this week (July 24) for conditioning on their own. Practices officially start Aug. 1 with the first pre-season scrimmage scheduled for Aug. 20 at CSU-Pueblo. The first games will be on the road in Iowa Aug. 26 and 27.

So, let's here your comments on this year's soccer team and let's go Cougars!

Three Cougars become academic all-american

This is anote that we need to give a great big huge shout-out to three special Cougar athletes. Soccer player Drew Oesterle and softball players Kari Marsico and Sydney Reyes received NJCAA academic All-American recognition earlier this month. Drew earned the honor with a 3.89 GPA, while Syd had a 3.61 and Kari a 3.60. When athletes can earn these kind of grades, it shows that the college is all about academics.

Congratulations Drew, Kari and Syd. You deserve a big hug!!!!!!
